Country On The Click

country on the click was the falls monumental 24th studio album released in 2003 and received generally positive reviews. The album was extensively remixed and re-recorded and a number of versions of each song were produced.

“green eyed loco man” starts the album as the song bursts into life with mark smith stumbling his way through the song like always, smith's vocal style and lyrics are very unusual and adds an interesting dimension to the steady guitar. this song really sets the mood for the rest of the album - strong guitars, strange vocals with a hint genius. “mountain energy” begins with a strong beat and a rumbling guitar, soon after smith comes in with very abstract lyrics, the chorus is quite gentle but very catchy and melodic, the guitars make the song very casual and easy. “Open The Boxatosis #2” is a very fast paced song, the guitars make the song exciting. the chorus of "open the box" is very catchy. In between the chorus' the song is quite mellow and simple the starts to build up with the chorus on loop for a loud finish. “Loop41 'Houston” begins with a heavy but repetitive bass, it suddenly morphs into a jolly sounding song, the lyrics are mainly focused on bad luck, they are very abstract but they manage to make sense somehow, the song is very steady, laid back and almost tired sounding. The song continues in a sort of loop before it just kinds of ends.“Proteinprotection” has a very dangerous sounding intro with tense staccato guitars over a rumbling bass. Smith starts to drawl over them, the guitars pick up occasionally into a sort of chorus. The song is very vague and leaves the album at an almost unanswered question when the song drops out rather suddenly.

Country On the click is Ascrono music's album of the week because its very different, nothing seems to have been written and recorded for any particular reason except for fun and enjoyment, although some of the songs are almost empty, there are small moments of musical genius vary from the lyrics to enticing melodies.
