Francis Bowie is regarded as a
phenomenon in the art and music scenes as he own galleries and also
plays with the band “A LOVE YOU” In 2010 he took some time away
from the band to open another gallery and also to produce some solo
music. In March 2012 the EP was released with a brand new called IPM
(intelligent pop music). Bowie created this style as he became
disappointed with the way the pop industry has become more about
financial gain. Here is a review of the self entitled EP for our
readers at Ascrono.
The album begins with “Endlessly” a
very determined sounding introduction, the vocals are very soothing
and easy to listen to, the song sounds very busy with lots of parts
weaving in and out, the songs has a very peaceful feel but still
manages to be quite upbeat and fast. “Wasting my time” sounds a
lot darker than the first, it has a very strong pulse and the lyrics
are very meaningful and you can hear the seriousness of them in the
vocals track, the accompaniment is very delicate and beautiful
sounding, almost like one of the instrumental tracks Moby produces.
the song fades out gradually nearing the end leaving a sad feel to
linger around afterwards.“Sunny Day” has a very tranquil
introduction but it becomes slightly disjointed with the introduction
of another melody which creates a strange sort of floaty feel. The
heavy beat springs the song into life and the whispering vocals add
the the graceful sound, the song's very relaxing and calming. If you
were to actually wake up on a sunny day, this is the track I would
play as you look out the window and admire nature in its finest. The
EP ends with “Silly and crazy” The introduction sounds really fat
and lazy, but it becomes steady sounding with the introduction of the
voice which really sounds troubled like the lyrics describe the
person feeling. The song gets turned up a notch when the chords
become darker and the beat slightly more rapid nearing the end to
bring about a dramatic and emotional ending.
I have really enjoyed this EP, it has a
good range of instruments, feelings and styles for only four songs,
this is definitely worth a listen to no matter what types of music
you enjoy. My only criticism would be that there wasn't enough song
and I am really looking forward to any future song that get released
and also to how IPM develops.
